    3. Dear Joan, My husband's father was from Iowa. We are not sure where they settled when they arrived in the US. What we do know is that Joshua Marshall was born near Cincinnati around 1820. Who and where his parents came from we do not know. He married Emily McFarland who was from Canada. they settled in Will Co. Ill. Joshua and his son George died in the Civil War ---both in the Union Army and both of illnesses. Emily then moved to Iowa. John Marshall married Rachel Stigall and they had a daughter Laura there is no record of her husband, Charles Elmer was my husband father and he had siblings no father listed on the birth records of any of them. Later Laura married a Jacobs. Does any of this connect to your family? 2. Hello Again: Don't give up Sue! Unless, you don't feel that sensation of being pushed by someone. I have that, I might take time off, a week or a month but, always come back because of the pushing in that direction. OK, if, Alanzo's parents came from another country try looking up immigration documents. Was, Alanzo born in this country??? Does the certificate give the mother's maiden name??? Try going to ancestry for that country and looking up her maiden name and that should help. I found out my grandfather was born in England, he came here in 1914, I found out. I was able to go back as far as the 1600s with the "Hare" side of the family. I'm more concerned with finding out my greatgrand mother's name first and maiden, she died when my grandma was 3. There, is more than just a name in this, I truly believe my grandma is trying to give me something I need so badly.............a family. So, I wish you luck........... If u send me the names and what country they came from I might be able to help you some. Good luck Liz

    2. Jim Marshall
    3. Dear Dorothy: My name is james marshall. I live in northeastern pa. For some time, I have been working on my genealogy. To date, I have learned that my ggreat grandfather, james marshall left England in 1848 at the age of 5. he came with his mother, Elizabeth and father, john. They lived near Manchester in a village k/a ashton-under-lyne. On arrival, they settled in chester, Delaware county, pa for 5 years. I have hit a brick wall with john and Elizabeth but I next find james living on a farm in bucks co., pa in 1860. after 3 years in the union army he settles in bucks co. again where he lives for the rest of his life, dying in 1930. he left 9 children living who in turn produced many, many great and ggreat children. I would be interested in knowing if your book lists any one coming from England around 1848 and perhaps settling in the areas I mention above. Thank you for your kind effort. 2. Since you are in Louisiana, maybe you have James Butler Marshall and his brother Frank in that book? James was b.1884 and d.1912. He was with and Aunt and Uncle Garrett in the 1900 census. So, we figure something happened to their parents that put them in that household. Thanks for any effort?
