    3. All my information on this part of the family is from the "booklet" by Thomas E. Marshall, III. He placed several copies in Virginia Libraries including the one in Richmond. I ordered copies of my line from the holdings in Salt Lake City, Utah. He did most of the research personally but there is some of it from sources in KY. I know the genealogical library in Bedford, VA has a copy also. Your info could be correct, I 'll see if I can find anything else relating to the names. 3. This research aid regarding the Scotch-Irish in Virginia is somewhat new to me. I just sent a request to the Augusta County Court House for some Wills belonging to some of my ancestors that I found in the Chronicles. I was wondering if there is more to read on an entry that reads: page 338, Vol. I - Wm. Robinson built by contract a causeway at Vanse's and died. -- Money ordered paid to Margaret, his widow. - Is this all there is or is there more information that Mr. Chalklley did not write down??? Thanks, Fern

    3. Oops. sorry. I see my computer technical ability is in 'true form'. This time, I will 'test' it to be sure its okay. http://johnrobertrust.com I've tested it in the Drafts folder. It should come up with a title John Robert Rust. Then on the very bottom, it says, "Enter this site". There on the left will be a menu which has 'letters'. There must be about 50 letters in all; but not al center around Presley B Marshall. Let me know again if it fails. I'll ask the owner if he needs to 'do something' to allow entry. He wants people to read the letters. He had to work hard to determine the script and is eager to share them. Later.. 3. If you have a firewall in place, try disabling it when you try and reach the web site. Some sites expect a reply and your firewall may be preventing it. It's not good to disable your firewall but sometimes it is the only way you can make it work. Good luck. 3. Hi Terry.. Please go down to the children of Thos. Rawlings Marshall and Mary Jones. Do you know the source of Presley B MARSHALL's full name? I am figuring I may be wrong.. but Lou Rust Marshall's family Bible had him as Presley BENJAMIN Marshall instead of Presley BOLLING Marshall. You are very likely correct. Before I change my notes, I would hope to know the source, if anyone has it? I feel confident that I have the right Presley B (Whatever his middle name) MARSHALL. The letters written by Lou (Rust) MARSHALL mentions that Papa (MARSHALL) took some of the younger children to Bristol, TN where he purchases a hotel. She writes to her parents in VA 13 Jan 1866, " I know you are so anxious to know what business Mr. Marshall is engaged in & what I am doing to amuse myself. Papa Marshall and three of his sons, Presley and two of the younger boys are busily engaged in keeping "Hotel", the Exchange Hotel Bristol, Tenn which has been changed to the "MARSHALL HOUSE" in the last few days. Laura M and myself have been busy ironing colars, cuffs and handkerchiefs." I have not entered all of the letters.. Some are hazy in memory. In other letters, she mentions "Bro Willie" which I took to be William, is hurrying her to finish. And she mentions visiting with Dr. Marshall at Liberty on the way to Bristol, TN. If anyone would like to read the letters, they have been placed online by John 'Jack' Williams at: http://johnrobertrust.com When you find the page with the letters, look about midway down the page. Lou's letters which were written from Bristol, TN. are Dec 14, 1865 through Jan 13, 1866. The May 18, 1866 letter was written after she and Presley M. were back in Warren Co, VA. I note that Thos R MARSHALL died in Sept. 1866. If you go down further, there are some letters from Texas to VA .. about 1880. She mentions that Mollie MARSHALL & her husband are expecting a baby about May 1880. Altogether, mentioning these various family members lend belief that I have the right Marshall family. Of course.. the coincidence could be great and it is not the same group at all. I know these are not a direct for any of you. So, the minutia may not be familiar.
