So please post > your ancestors and most of all let us know what your BRICKWALLS are. Thanks for taking over the list, Joan. I'm stuck on William H. Marshall. born about 1832 in North Carolina. married Martha C. Pickle, also born 1832, probably in Bedford County, TN. They married about 1854, somewhere near Memphis, according to her obit. I have not located a marriage record for them. She is on the 1850 census in Bedford Cty, TN, but I have not found him in 1850. I have not located them in 1860. They were somewhere in Arkansas in 1862, when their second child, my greatgrandmother Elizabeth Marshall was born. They were in Macon, Macon, Illinois for the 1870 census, and Martha is in Vernon, Cowley, KS for the 1880 census, a widow with 6 children. William had died in 1877. I have no idea who William's parents were, where in NC he was born, etc. NOTHING on him prior to 1870. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lynn Stewart Visone

My brick wall is James Marshall from Harrison County, Kentucky. I died in 1823 and left six daughters as orphans. They were Pressilla, Ann Eliza, Louisa, Jane, Emily, and Sally. Emily and Sally's mother may have been Sally F. Walden. A William Walden became guardian for the girls. They were all born between 1805 and 1823. Gerry Losey
Another brick wall: I have been unable to find the parents of Jacob Marshall, born 1755 in Natick. He married Mary Morse in 1775. He served in the Revolution. Son, Peletiah, was born 1782. Any help with this family would be appreciated. Elizabeth

-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Roll call Date: 04/04/2005, 1:51 PM From: "B.D. Marshall" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Hello Joan and thank you for agreeing to administer the list. I am looking for William Marshall, m. Ann Brooker. They were born in England and moved to Michigan some time during mid 1800's. They may have lived in or near Wayne county,(Detriot). They had two sons that I know of, William and Lewis. Lewis is my gggrandfather and he was born in 1827 in England. He married Fannie Clark, also born in England, so they might have come over the pond together. William was appears to have been born in 1840 and he married Mary Ann Belson in 1867. Lewis and William settled in southern Michigan in Branch and Coldwater counties. If any one has any information on William and Ann I would happily trade all information I have on Lewis' and William's families. B.D. Marshall Magnolia, TX

I just read your E-mail so here goes. I'm searching a Thomas Marshall who died in Culpeper County. His will is dated "3 May 1793". It was probated 15th day of September 1794. In the will he names his wife Zannah ;and children John Marshall, Elizabeth Petty, Mary Davenport, Lucy Rosson, Thomas Marshall & Sarah Marshall. All information stops with the will. I would like any information on when & where he was born and his parents names. Also his wifes maiden name. I am a descendant through his daughter Elizabeth Petty. Hope to hear from someone. I have searched this man for years & would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks, Jeanne
Hi All and welcome Joan I am still looking for the ancestors of Minnie Marshall, age 18. She married Isaac Newton Spencer in 1900, Limestone Co., TX. In the 1900 census a cousin Audley Creech, age 19, was living with them. It states she was born in Tennessee. She had a daughter: Arlice Hazel Carmen Spencer about 1904 and probably died shortly after. She is possibly buried in the Peoria cemetery 6 miles west of Hillsboro, Hill Co., TX along with her mother, father, and sister. All the graves are unmarked and I have never been sure of the name of the cemetery. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Lynette in CA

Has anyone definitively traced back from Jacob Marshall and Rebecca Murray to their respective native countries, presumably Ireland, Scotland or the British Isles? Any information will be appreciated. Limited information we have is that they were married 18 Feb 1803 in or around Baltimore, MD, and moved with their two children Ruth (born between abt 1800 and 1808) and Thomas Murray Marshall (b. 1803) in 1810 to Preble Co., Ohio. Jacob died there in 1854. Both children married into the Conger family. If the information I have is correct, Rebecca Murray's father was Wheeler Murray; Wheeler's father was Jabez Murray; and Jabez's parents were James Murray and Jemima Morgan. Spouses of Wheeler and Jabez Murray are unknown at this time, and I have no dates or locations associated with the ancestors of Rebecca Murray.
Southern Maryland Marshall's Have now pushed into the Northern Neck of Virginia to include King George, Stafford, Prince William, Fairfax & Loudoun. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mrmarsha&id=I0016 7 Road Block: Robert Marshall who died 1801 Mason County KY. Son Robert Jr. died 1814 Fayette County. Moved to Mason county from Prince William or Fairfax Co. VA. There were several different Marshall families living in close proximity in the 1740-1800 era on the VA side of the Potomac. Could have lived 1) in the Mason Neck/Pohick & Occoquan Creek area across from Marshall Hall and South of Mt. Vernon. 2) between Sandy Run Regional Park & Burke Lake South of Ox road living near the Simpson & Thomas familes. 3) between Ox road and Springfield near Keene Mill on 644. 4) between Bull Run & Centreville on the Loudoun/PWC/Fairfax borders 5 in Sugarland Hundred (by Dulles airport on the Potomac) & were from Pennsylvania. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mrmarsha&id=I0056 8

Sue -- Your informant is mistaken. Ohio became a state in 1803, and by 1810, it was already more populous than almost half of the original 13 states. By 1830, Ohio had almost a million people. Sue, Below is the email that you mailed to [email protected] and this is the first time that I have heard of anyone mentioning the West Indies. That is where Samuel Marshall, my great grandfather came from as a young boy to America. And the only place that I know where he was living, was in Texas and in 1870, he married Maryann Elizabeth Davis. He had blue eyes and auburn hair. He had told my grandmother that his parents came from Wales, and settled in the West Indies and that his mother and dad were doctors of Medicine. I have Samuel and Maryann's marriage license. I know that Maryann Elizabeth Davis was born in 1842. They later moved to Indian Territory and both are buried in Oklahoma. My grandmother, Margaret Virginia (Marshall) Anders named one of her sons, Willis. My grandmother was born in 1885, Brownwood, Texas.
