Albert Marshall married Mary Ann Kelly in 1851. Mary Ann was born in Ireland 20 Nov 1832. One of their sons, Silas Marshall is where my branch leads. Albert apparently left Northern New York for some reason, heading into Canada, probably Toronto and never was heard from again. The family thinks there was some foul play involved but no one can some up with anything. Albert was never heard from and there is no trace left by him. His wife, Mary Ann is buried along with Albert's son, Silas and Silas' wife, Jerusha Jane Cardiff. The cemetery is found in Oswegatchee, NY. If anyone has any leads on this one it would be very much appreciated. Stephan Cheney Canton, Connecticut

Welcome Joan! I haven't gotten that much mail in ages. Congratulations. A friend in a related family (DENT) has really done a great service for us over there. Maybe someone would be interested in doing something like that here. This seems a new beginning and a great time to start. A new program "Tribal Pages", makes it so easy to find people, add notes and photographs. It's a joy to work with. To see what he has done, go to www.tribalpages.com and enter dent2004 as the UserID Although it's free, it's a very rich program and needs a couple of visits to appreciate it all. May I also invite you to visit my own Marshall page at http://john.rootsweb.com/Marshall/index.html Regards, John New Orleans __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hello, I am responding to the post on the Covington' of Lincoln County, GA. My 5th Great- Grandfather was Mathew Marshall who left VA about 1755 and went to St. Pauls Parrish, Province of GA. In 1867 he petitioned for an English Crown Grant, Stating " He had been in the Province for 12 years and had not recievewd land". He was granted land in what became after the Rev. War, Wilkes County. He died in 1794 with will. William W.Covington a neighbor and friend was witness to Mathew's will. The area in which Mathew held land was divided in 1796 and Lincoln County was created. Mathew's wife was Rhoda. His children were John, Mathew Jr., James, Dixon, Constant, Margaret and Rhoda #2. The children as well as spouse and 2 grandaughters were named in the will. The witnesses were William W. Covington, David Douglas and Martha Douglas. I would appreciate hearing from anyone that may shed some light on the location in VA this Marshall family came from. Bill Marshall
Dear Patrice, We have a similar problem. Our Joshua Marshall we believe to be from the Cincinnati area. Born about the same time we think as your Joshua. We have not been able to find his parents or where they came from before Ohio. We have not been able to find his birth record. He married Emily McFarland in Canada, but settled in Will Co. Il. They had several children. One I can recall off the top of my head is George who died in the Civil War as did Joshua. Both of disease rather than wounds. Their other children were Louisa, Bailey, John l., William, Daniel, Jane, and Loren. I believe I have the names correct. so we both have a Joshua from Ohio we are trying to find parents for. Looking for family from Islesborough, Maine around 1820's. Charles Royal Marshall born Jan 17, 1827 in Islesboro, Maine and was a Mariner. Maine 1790 census lists Benjamin Marshall from Portland, Maine? In later census a Thomas, Robert, Samuel. I believe Charles to be a part of these families. Possible the original family came from Rhode Island as there were several families there at this time as well as Boston, Mass. Family believes original immigrant as being in Boston named James or John from Scotland . Charles was on the 1860 , 1870 Islesboro census living with a Francis Chase and his wife Prudence ( Marshall) Chase. He came to Essex County, Ontario,Canada in 1870 where he lived, raised a family and died in April 23, 1917. Always wondered if there was family in Michigan that was related but no connection.
