    3. Thanks, I'll look forward to that. Have a good trip. Joe -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, April 06, 2005 4:56 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MARSHALL] Rev. Abraham Marshall Joe, I will be happy to share. My time is limited at this period. My wife and I are flying to Amsterdam this Saturday. We are mixing pleasure with some genealogy. My 11th Great Grandfather Thomas Blossom was a member of the Seperatist Group that fled England in 1609 and went to Holland to avoid persecution by the King. They insisted they had the right to worship as there religous belief moved them. The group in 1620 sold all their belongings and bought a ship named "Speedwell" They left Leiden Holland and met with the Mayflower in England. They set sail for the New World only to turn back twice due to the Speedwell being unseaworthy. Finally passengers were transferred from the Speedwell to the Mayflower or as many as could get aboard. Their were about 35 that could not board the Mayflower. Thomas Blossom was one of the persons left. He returned to Leiden where he helped keep the group together. I have transcriptions of three letters he wrote to William Bradford, Gov. of Plymouth Colony in 1625, giving news of the group that remained in Holland and asking for assisiance in securing passage to Plymouth. In 1629 the Mayflower 2. Brought the surviving group to Salem, MA. and on to Plymouth. Thomas Blossom was one of the Deacons in Plymouth Colony. He died in 1633. The Dutch has memorialized the Pilgrims of Leiden and Plymouth, MA with a fine museum. I plan on collecting some data on this trip. Thomas was ancestor to John W. Marshall's spouse Sarah White. John W. and Sarah married 11-7-1838 in Monroe County, GA. When I get back and are caught up somewhat I will share with you. 2. Hello Jeanne, My Thomas, the pilgrim and husband of Ann Heilson/Helsdon had three children. They were Thomas Jr., Elizabeth and Peter. Thomas' daughter married Edward Fitzrandolph. I know of no Zachariah Petty. My lack of knowledge doesn't mean that a Blossom did not marry a Petty. I only know the marriage you mentioned was not my Thomas Blossom's daughter Elizabeth. Wish I could help more. Bill Marshall

    1. Marshall family in Ireland, Georgia, Nova Scotia
    2. Judy Bingham
    3. Hi Joseph Marshall was born in Glenkeen (Blackwatertown), Co. Tyrone, Ireland abt 1725. He married Mary Hagan in 1749. Their children, Matthew, John, Mary, Joseph, Thomas, Henry and William, were born in Glenkeen. This is all thats know about the family in Ireland, as in 1769 the family came to Georgia, USA and settled in Queensborough. Most of the family met tragic ends. The son, Joseph, was a Loyalist in the Revolutionary War and wound up in Nova Scotia with his wife, Margaret Simpson, and four sons ultimately settling in Guysborough. Through the generations, some men in the family became prominent. Over the years Ive gathered a great deal of documentation about the family. Im looking for two things: (1) Anyone connected with this family. Id love to share and exchange information, and (2) Id love to learn more about the original family in Ireland. Judy Bingham Fullerton, California

    1. RE: [MARSHALL] Rev. Abraham Marshall
    2. Joseph Marshall
    3. Bill, Thanks for the email. I would like a copy of Matthew's will for my records if you're willing to share. Do you have a copy of Ed Cashin's book, The King's Ranger. It has a mentioning of a Captain Joseph Marshall several times and I can't see it being my ancestor Joseph, especially with Daniel's being a close knit family and the story about Rev Daniel and his wife with the British. ( I'll send you some references if you don't.) Also, I have a copy of a land grant to a Daniel Marshall in S C during the 1750's or 60's, and I find it hard to believe it was Rev Daniel's son, in that he always traveled with his family and settled in Columbia County, also. (then Richmond Co.) And there is a family with roots in Putnam Co. that says it is different from Rev Daniel's, even with Rev Daniel's grandson's widow returning to Putnam Co with two small sons after the early death of Rev Daniel's son Rev. Jabez. I can give you these contacts if you don't have them. It would be interesting to get these two families sorted out. I have read someplace that two Marshall Families were in the same area of North Carolina at the same time in the 1750's. Did the other Marshall's in North Carolina come from the Marshall's of Virginia?. As you Know, Rev Daniel came from the Marshall's who landed in Boston in 1633/34. Much is documented about his family between then and his leaving Windsor Ct. about 1750/1. Abraham actually was recognized in their church minutes and John was in the area from time to time in land transactions.
