Surnames: JAMES CHRISTOPHER BROCK MARSHALL Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Vdy.2ACEB/3285.1 Message Board Post: Hi Kym I'm in Adelaide, South Aus. For about 8 years now I have been doing free research for anyone from around the world who want information re ancestors who came to South Australia in the 1800's. I was in the library in Adelaide yesterday, and decided to see if I could find anything re your James Christopher Brock Marshall. I did not find a great deal, but the following is what I managed to find:- In the records, there are seven entries for arrival in South Australia from overseas with the name James Marshall. There are also 9 records for the arrival in S.Aus. of a John Marshall. Unfortunately only the first Christian name has been recorded on the passenger lists, so I was not able to find the "right" record for you. I also found the following:- MARRIAGE. John Christopher, aged 20yrs, single, son of James Christopher Brock Marshall married 5th December 1870 to Elizabeth Howell, aged 19yrs, single, daughter of William Robert Howell at the Registry Office, Adelaide District Adelaide. reference book 85 page 405 (Note John Christopher's name did not include the name Brock on this marriage record. CHILDREN BORN TO JOHN MARSHALL & ELIZABETH nee HOWELL. 1. Adelaide Gertrude 1/8/93 North Adelaide. reference book 527 page 127 2. Alkfred Roberts 16/10/77 Adelaide Dis. Adel. reference book 190 page 44 3. Catherine Elizabeth 13/3/72 Gilbert Town (now spelt Gilberton) District adelaide reference book 106 page 462 4. Charles Septimus 28/6/88 Walkerville Dis. Son of John Christopher Brock Marshall. District Daly. reference book 324 page 185 symbol "S" denoting supplementary information appears on the original death record. CERTIFICATES. The cost of BDM Certificates in South Australia are the most expensive of any of the States in Australia, being $33.00 per certtificate. This cost includes a "Search time" for staff if one applies for a copy of a certificate. However, if you wanted to get any copies of the above, quote the book and number reference nos. which I always put with every item I find, as that will allow you a discount (I don't know how much) as the staff do not have to spend time searching for the record. If there is anything else you would like me to look for please don't hesitate to get back to me (preferably at my email address) as I'd be happy to help any time. Would you be interested in the marraiges of children born to John & Elizabeth? Feel free to ask. Hoping the above is of some help. Regards Heather from a cool, humid day in Adelaide.

Joanne MAGAZINE OF VIRGINIA GENEALOGY Vol 40 2002 pag327-328 Transcribed by Wesley E. Pippenger In King George County Court, September 34d 1840. It is ordered to be certified that James Marshall, late of this County, a midshipman in the Army of the Revolution, died Intestate in the said County some time after the close of the Revolutionary War, say about the year...., leavng a Widow, by whom he had no issue, and two brothers; John and Richard and three sister namely; Joannah, Nancy and Elizabeth. John left the county of King George and went to King and Queen many years ago unmarried, and is believed to be dead; Richard married Anna Ross both of whom are dead Intestate leaving one child named Frances; Joanna married Thomas King by whom he [sic] had one child named RICHARD HENRY -- [WOO HOO :-) ] the said Richard Henry King died Intestate leaving a widow named Mary and the following children namely Edwin, Ugenia, Joanna, James and Norvel. Nancy Marshall married William Rollins both of whom died Intestate leaving three children namely; Sally Rollins [who died without issu! e] Lucy Rollins, and Nancy Rollins. Lucy Rollins married Robert Crismond, both of whom are dead intestate leaving two children namely; Sally and Catherine who are alive. Sally married Gabriel Levi. Catherine married James Henry Stephens. Nancy Rollins married Bennet Crismond both of whom died Intestate leaving four children namely Robert M. Crismond, Wm. W.M. Crismond, Elizabeth Crismond and Suckey Crismond, Elizabeth Crismond intermarried with Thomas Crismond. Suckey not married. Elizabeth married William Trigger both of whom are dead Intestate leaving no issue. It therefore appears that the above named person are the only heirs of James Marsahll, dec'd., to wit; Frances Marshall only child of Richard Marshall; Edwin, Ugenia, Joanna, James and Norvel King, children of Richard Henry King; Sally Levi and Catherine Stephens, children of Lucy Crismond wife of Robert Crismond; Robert M.
