She lived with a family (not her immediate) and met William Hensley and wed abt.1920. She is my grandmother and I have no info at all regarding her parentage. She could have stayed with a family by the name of either Hensley, Barnes or Fogle. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. After several years of generally harassing genealogical societies around the NC area it is nice to know the other pages still exist. Now we just need to find page 3. I have already integrated the pages' information into my family tree software. I can send some gedcoms of the Marshalls, Schultz's and the Krause's, such as I have them. Marshall you mentioned was a son of Isaac and Mary (Foote) Marshall. His birthdate was recorded in pages of the family bible. Those pages torn out and sent to the Pension office on Isaac Marshall's pension file, after his death to establish lineage. I have his paying taxes in Monroe Co., TN in 1836, but he is lost after that and information on his whereabouts was not shown in the pension records and it is assumed that he was dead by 1849. If you have any information otherwise, please advise. I have information that it was not Thomas D. Marshall that married Jane Hawks in 1824 in Warren Co., NC, but William D. Marshall. My source is NC Marriage Bonds. God bless. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Dear Janey, I have an idea that this is one of the Marshall's that belong to the Isaac Marshall descendants. I can not identify him readily, so would need more information. I have a Joseph Marshall in Monroe Co., TN in 1860 but the year of birth from Census records would be 1845 in lieu of 1837 and a possible middle initial of T. in lieu of W. That Joseph Marshall was born in SC, although his father was from NC and a part of the Isaac Marshall family. Two others of this Marshall family married Smith girls from the Joseph Smith family. That Joseph Marshall's father died about 1852 in SC and his mother and siblings were in Monroe Co., TN in 1860 along with two of Joseph's father's brothers. His father was Richard Marshall born Oct 25, 1800 in Warren Co., NC. Richard's wife was a Lucinda who was born abt 1811 in Ireland. This family becomes lost after the 1860 Census, although I have found one of the children of Richard & Lucinda Marshall in Giles Co., TN in 1870 & 1880. The rest I've been unable to find. You can look at My sites below, although don't know that they would help you, maybe just stir up a memory that might connect. Let me know what you think?? God bless. Carolyn, just an old Texas Gal. This is how I found a marriage of IN ancestors that were married in IL. Also, if you know any relative that lived in KY try there as they could have visited them and gotten married with the relative as a witness. Good luck some ancestors take longer than others to be found. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: RuthBerden Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.marshall/4775.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Karen, I just checked Ancestrys' site for Kentucky marriages and found the following: Copies of marriage records are available through the Vital Records branch of the Kentucky Department of Health. They maintain marriage records beginning in June 1958. For information about how to obtain a copy, please visit their website http://chfs.ky.gov/dph/vital/ . Records of marriages occurring before 1958 must be obtained from the county clerk of the county in which the marriage license was issued. Kentucky marriage records usually begin about the time of the respective county's establishment or within a few years of that date. Some counties have marriage records for dates prior to organization. Fayette, Jefferson, and Lincoln counties have marriage records as early as 1785. The respective county clerk has jurisdiction over marriage records. Beginning in 1958 statewide registration was required. Originals are filed in the counties and duplicates are available at the Office of Vital Statistics. The Office of Vital Statistics maintains an index to marriage records from 1958. Licenses and bonds may be filed separately from certificates. Taken from Wendy Bebout Elliott, "Kentucky," in Red Book: American State, County, and Town Sources, 3d ed., ed. Alice Eichholz. (Provo, Utah: Ancestry, 2004). It appears you'll have to do your own Kentucky searching. Sorry I couldn't help more. Since they married between 1945 and 1950 and your mother stated it was in Kentucky, contact the Kentucky state vital statistcs department and ask if they have a state-wide marriage index for this period. You have both his and her full names (including her maiden name) so they should be able to find this quite easily. I'm assuming you have no aunts or uncles still living that could help you with more specifics around all this? You might find someone here with access to Ancestry.com (I don't have this or I'd check for you) and see if the KY marriage index is avaliable online there. Good luck. I am looking for information on Abner Marshall. In Frank Doherty's book "The Settler's of Beekman Patent", Abner is listed as one of the children of Margaret and Zacheous Marshall. This family went to Pawling during the time of the Revolution. Abner married Sally Burch, 1812 in Pawling, NY. If anybody has any information on this family, I would appreciate the help. She was born about 1885, married William Sargent, of Scott Co., KY, and bore several children. Her daughter Rosie, born 6 March 1899, married Chester Southworth around 1916. Elvira died 31 Jan 1946 in Scott Co., KY. She is my husband's maternal great-great grandmother. I do not know with certainty that she was born in Scott County; I can only guess considering how long she lived there. I've done queries on her name, but the name Elvira doesn't come up. I'm beginning to wonder if she is listed under her middle name, which I do not know. If she sounds familiar, please let me know.
