To my knowledge Josephine married a Melvin Lauderback aka "Mal" or "Mel". They had my Great Grandfather who is Charles Melvin Lauderback. I have not been able to confirm any of his siblings names. Charles married Sadie M. Swanson. Together they had 5 or 6 children one of them being my grandmother. I am anxious to here what you have and I will see what I can find out from my Great Aunt Mary. I have now been able to expand my family tree by doing more research. However, I've found that Janet's parents were Archibald Marshall & Mary McGill born 10.5.1814. It seems Archibald and Mary were married on 15 Nov 1811. This marriage is also in someone elses tree & they have Archibald's parents as James Marshall and Margrate Hamilton so I'm assuming this Archibald is one and the same person as in my tree As I have him with the same parents, and I have him married to Margaret Chalmers on 16 Apr 1809 and all the other children have these parents...I'm confused !! does anyone know which John this is???? or might be? it says see map but I dont see cool pictures anyway It’s a mystery when the next owner, John Marshall, bought the property. In 1763 Aaron Hackney and Sarah Hackney Rees, of Virginia, gave their power of attorney to a Kennett man, Thomas Harlan. In order that he should sue for the recovery of the “lands and tenements which the said Joseph Hackney died seized of.” which sounds as if someone had been squatting there. Or maybe someone had promised to purchase the place but failed to come up with the money. I did not find any indication as to how this turned out, but it does seem likely that John Marshall acquired the property before too long. Again, this deed was not recorded. Sometimes the tax records make up for the lack of a deed, but in this case Hackney’s name disappeared after 1744. The Baldwins did not appear on the records at all, and John Marshall didn’t show up until 1767. although a local history says he “removed to Kennett Township in 1765.” Another history says he was operating a mill in 1763, http://historichometeam.com/blog/historic-homes-for-sale/historic-marshall-mill-c1765-for-sale/ Joe Marshall http://www.MiscellaneaMarescalliana.org ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. I have a Robert Marshall that I have among my ancestors. I am looking for info. on him and his family. This is the info. I have: Robert Marshall b. March 5, 1795 in Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland Parents: William Marshall and Jean/Jane Hamilton They came to NYC around 1806-10. He is listed in the 1816/17 Longworth Business Directory as a "shoemaker" and listed with his father at 282 Greenwich Street. He is listed on a family inheritance letter in 1831. Later on he is listed in Early NY Naturalizations in Marine Court of NYC in 1832 as a "gas fitter". That is the last of him that I find. If you know of this Robert Marshall and his family I would like to hear from you. Thanks Joan
