    3. Mye Goodye Cosynes, There has been some interest in this website recently with the latest reproduction of the Rev. David Frederick Markham's book. I did post a fairly long explanation of this site quite recently, but there seem to be new members wanting to know of the information contained in this website. Feel free to delete this message if this is old news to you. About 3 years ago, Capt. Columbus set this website in motion when he sent me paper copies of 3 Markham books. They were: 1. "A History of the Markham Family", by the Rev. David Frederick Markham. ["HOTMF"]. @116 pages. Currently being reproduced by the very reverend David Markham of NZ. 2. "History of the Markham Family... Northamptonshire", by Christopher Alexander Markham. ["HOTMN"]. @21 pages. 3. "Genealogical Memoranda Relating to the Family of Markham", by Christopher Alexander Markham. ["GM"]. @120 pages. I also purchased a paper copy of another Markham book, on an exchange rate of over 8:1 at the time: 4. "Markham Memorials", by Clements Robert Markham, K.C.B. ["MM"]. In 2 volumes, @577 in total. More recently, a few months ago, another book, a paper copy, was sent to me to be placed on the "TW" website by Beverly Markham: 5. "Geneology of the Markham Family", by Wilbur F. Markham. [GMF]. @15/16? pages. So there are now 5 reproductions of Markham books on this website in at least one format, HTML, and some in Word7 format. Some books have also been placed into a scanned picture version of each original page of the book. If a Word7 version exists of the book, this would be the version to print out on paper, as it contains the best formatting with page breaks etc. Eventually, I hope to have all 3 formats for each book on the website. The are 'MANY' other chapters on the Markham families. The website contains information on ALL lines of this family and surname/s. Recently, Leslie Ashman gave me permission to place her entire website at "TW". It has much info on the US CENSUS RECORDS. This probably consists of more than 300 printed pages: 6. "Markhams of the USA", by Leslie Ashman and members of the MML. There is a section on the Markham arms, with some really great pictures. Great chapters on the Markham churches in England. Oom Victor (Uncle Victor) has a number of chapters on individual Markham persons, and other important chapters relating to Markhams. In my own section, there will also be a vast amount of info one fine day. My 'Markhams of Africa' book, will not be uploaded in its entirety though. It does presently however, have the chapter on the 'Markhams Stores' with quite a few pictures I took myself with the Sony Mavica digital camera. Two local researchers also gave me the content for the chapter on Sir Rufane Shawe Donkin, which pictures of the lighthouse, pyramid, and plates in Port Elizabeth, named after his wife Elizabeth Donkin, nee Markham, descendant of the Archbishop of York. There are also pictures of Rufane and Elizabeth. I intend to add at least one more website to "TW". The main menu alone consists of the following: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- THE WANDERER ABOVE THE MISTS PASTOR COLUMBUS CARL MARCUM: DEDICATION BIOGRAPHY A PLACE I CALL HOME THE MARKHAM COAT OF ARMS THE RIVERS OF BABYLON THE TRIBAL EMBLEMS THE APPOINTED PLACE GENEALOGICAL MEMORANDA RELATING TO THE FAMILY OF MARKHAM HISTORY OF THE MARKHAM FAMILY... JOHN FRANKLYN MARKHAM: A SHORT HISTORY OF BECCA HALL MARKHAM ARMS ----------------------------------------------------------------------- In most cases, there are pictures of each of the contributors to this website and short 'Bio'. Some chapters are books, or will be in time to come, such as "ENCYCLOPAEDIA iAFRICA". This will also contain a book (in progress) of ALL the earlier of Rhodesia. I intend to compile a list of every single pioneer of this country. A task I don't think has been done yet. To try and maintain an interest in the site, other information relating to the individuals themselves, the places where they live, and cultures, is also being included. There is much picture content here too. See Capt. Columbus' section of "TW" for a glimpse of the 'Humongous-Columbus-Mobile' (has moonshine store in the background). Future items 'might' include full colour MPEG movie clips of the churches in Markham. I am also keen, even now, to add a section of something to the effect: "Members of the Markham Mailing List". I can add a 'Bio' type of page for any-one that might be interested, with picture and page on yourself, in a similar fashion as has been already set out in "TW". No long or large set of genealogy pages need to accompany this at all, or email address will be added to the page/s, since it takes too much time to keep that type of thing updated. I would also like to receive pictures of other early Markham graves, and close up pictures of each of the arms in the Markham church, and close ups of each of the inscriptions or plaques etc., and a paragraph to accompany each picture. I will consider placing certain historic information on the website, but it is not a place to request specific family line information, the MML is the place for this. I have wanted to add many JavaScript items, but is a problem with many browsers. Read the first page of the website carefully. Let me know directly if you have any problems with the site. The URL is also attached to messages posted to the MML, and can be found there, if you forget it. The website URL recently sent to the MML was incorrectly spelt, and is as follows, as always: "The Wanderer Above The Mists" ("TW"): http://members.xoom.com/kenmarkham/ Yours Sincerely, Sir Ken Markham, K.C.B., (95).
