It's part of their American Memory Collection. The main site for the American Memory Collection is http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/amhome.html. The religious petitions are at http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/repehtml/repehome.html. The site has copies of the actual petitions with all the signatures on them. It's interesting to find ancestors among the signatures, and see their actual signatures (it looks like in some cases a clerk might have filled things in, but these are usually obvious because all the signatures look the same.) It's also handy for helping determine dates ancestors might have moved on or died, as it places them particular parishes on certain dates. My Markhams were in Chesterfield County, and I have found a couple of them there. There may be other Markhams in other counties as well. The ones where I found them in Chesterfield County are November 3, 1778, Chesterfield, Manchester Parish, for dissolution of vestry. Geo. Markham - first page, col 3, 2nd signature November 19, 1783, Chesterfield, Vestry of Manchester Parish, for adjustment of glebe boundaries. Geo. Markham - 4th signature Bernard Markham - 6th signature If you find a copy that you want, be sure to click on the high resolution version. They're huge, but the resolution is fantastic! Hope this helps someone. Brian Bivona Waco, Texas [mailto:bbivona@wans.net] http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bbivona/main.htm
