    3. Hi. I'm not sure if this is how i go about posting to the list, but here's a Christmas present for those who are interested in the Jamestown Thomas Markham who married Susan Greenleafe, widow of Robert Greenleafe, and was given 300 acres in about 1636 - some of it because of his marriage to her. In the Muster of the Inhabitants of the Neck-of-Land in the Corporation of Charles Cittie in Virginia Taken 24 January, 1624, here is Susan before her first (known)husband died. This "census" was to determine who was left living in the settlement and to determine who should inherit from those who were by then dead. Neck-of-Land was one of several small areas delineated in the list. The entire list can be found in a book called "Adventurers of Purse and Person" and this book also contains a great deal of genealogical information about those settlers lucky enough to live to procreate. Here is the entire entry about Susan: (page 11) The Muster of Robert Greenleafe ROBERT GREENLEAFE aged 43 yeres in the Tryall August 1610 SUSAN his wife aged 23 yeres in the Johnathon May 1620 THOMAS theire sonn aged 3 yeres ANN a daughter aged 22 weeks PROVISIONS: Corn, 4 1/2 barrells; pease and beanes, 1 1/2 bushell. ARMES & MUNITION: Powder, 1 lb; Lead, 3 lb; Peeces fixt, 1. SWINE & POULTRIE: Sow Pigg, 1; Poultrie, 10 HOUSES: House, 1. For those of us who care, this gives us exact ages for Susan and her children, and raises the question of whether the Thomas Markham Junior who has been presumed to be the son of Thomas Markham of Jamestown is actually his son or his step-son. (Would she have named a SECOND son "Thomas", even after her new husband? ) This is for Malcom (Parker): (Merry Christmas, Malcom) Musters 23 January 1624, Colledgeland, Henrico PARKER, THOMAS, came in the Neptune Corne, 8 barrells, Powder, 1 lb, Peece 1, Sword, 1. Also, if there is anyone on the list who wants a forward of the typed out Bedford and Boteourt Co., Va. tax lists (Markham family only) from about 1790 to about 1850, I will be happy to forward them to you or to the list. I have forwarded these records (as transcribed, copying Markhams, Markums, Marcums, Malcoms, etc. but all the same people), to about four listmembers previously, in about 8 sections. Please get word to me if you don't have them and do want them. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night ! And thanks to David. Karen Marcum Brandon From: David W.
