Hi all ! While copying obits for the county I ran across this Marcum obit. Not sure where he fits into the Markham/Marcum circle but maybe one of you know. He's not buried in Cass County, but copied him anyway. Just can't resist those Markham/Marcum's. This may be from a branch of the Johnson Co, MO Markham/Marcums. WILLIAM EDWARD MARCUM 91, Adrian, Missouri, died October 20, 1992 at the Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri. He was born in Sedalia, Missouri, August 6, 1901, the son of James William and Violet Ann (Parsons) Marcum. He is survived by a son, Marc and his wife Valerie of Gore, Oklahoma; a daughter Mary and her husband Roland Rittgers of Pacahontas, Iowa and a daughter, Karen and her husband Jerry Clark of Adrian, Missouri; two sisters, Florence Tucker and Violet Kassing of Holden, Missouri; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Claudine Marcum of Fresno, California, Wiburene Marcum of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Anita Strange of Brookfield, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Susie, 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Ed lived most of his early years in the Warrensburg-Holden area. When he and Susie were married in 1940, they made their home in Brookfield, Missouri. In 1951, they moved to a farm in the Buckner-Oak Grove area. Ed loved his farm and the animals on it. He really enjoyed life. He loved rodeos. He was an avid coon hunter before it became difficult to get around. In 1963 he and his famil moved to his brother's farm west of Adrian where he lived until retirement and moved to town. Ed had a terrific sense of humor and loved being with his family and enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a loyal and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was the best daddy that daughter could have. Ed will be greatly missed by many people. He touched a lot of lives during his 91 years. Graveside services were held Saturday, October 24, 1992 at 1:30 p.m. at the Woodside Chapel Cemetery north of Pittsville, Missouri with the Rev Bob Martin officiating. Interment was in the cemetery immediately following the service under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home of Adrian, Missouri. Archie News----October 29, 1992
