Londonderry." 12 July 2000 I think finding the name of the parish was important. However, Kilcronaghan seems to be mythic, mystic, ethereal, like Camelot & Sineland. I cannot find Kilcronaghan at MapQuest or in my Times Atlas or by phoning the USC map library. >The covering letter makes it clear that tracing >him any further is rather unlikely to be >successful. Robert Marchbank ..." on my main page: http://Genealogy.Org/~green/MbanksOld.html http://members.FortuneCity.Com/jgreen/MbanksOld.html If you click on that link, you all find Roger's emails about this man. Roger said this Robert in Londonderry Co. might be the "Robert Marchbank born in Moffat in 1756". I searched our list's archives for a "Robert Marchbank" and did not find that this Robert b. 1756 had been mentioned. To search the archives of or posts to our list, go to http://Genealogy.Org/~green/Mbanks.html or http://members.FortuneCity.Com/jgreen/Mbanks.html Scroll down to "9. RootsWeb Mailing Lists Interactive Search" & click on "Submit" button. Type in "Robert Marchbank" (include quotes) select 1998 and hit enter & you get 4 hits. The 1st hit is Sheila Hale's 3 June 1998 letter that says: "Robert Marchbank his son who died 1st April 1810 aged 7 years". The 2nd hit is Bob telling of a Robert Marchbank that is coming to the 1998 AGM. The 3rd hit is Bob telling of the same Robert Marchbank. The 4th hit is Sheila Hale's 20 Oct 1998 letter which seems to include that a Robert Marchbank was born in 1863 in Dumfriesshire. The speed at which the pages expire when I hit "back", make me glad I installed the button yesterday so I no longer have to type in (nor paste) the list name, Marjoribanks. Checking 1999 emails mentioning Robert Marchbank there is just one: Sheila Hale's 19 Jan 1999 email about a Robert Marchbank being a War of 1812 soldier in PA per url. So this Robert who was the Flax grower of 1796 in Ireland, could be fighting in PA in the War of 1812. The war is only 16 years later. The Robert who had a son die in Dumfriesshire in 1810 could also be the Flax grower of 1796 in Ireland. Roger, when was Robert (who was born in Moffat in 1756 last in the Moffat parish records? If he died in Moffat, before some of these other records of Robert MARCHBANKs, we could exclude those post death records from the records that might belong to Robert Marchbank of Moffat. -- James W.
