    3. I received a clipping today from a recent edition of the local newspaper in Kelowna, British Columbia, headed: King of Ne'er Do Wells Of course, it's about poor old Coutts Marjoribanks who was banished by his father, first to a ranch in Dakota and then to a fruit farm in British Columbia. The article calls him "the uncrowned king of the Remittance Men," and accuses him of drinking, carousing and indolence. The fact that his business enterprises failed has more to do with the impractical ambitions of his sponsor and brother-in-law the Earl of Aberdeen than to any mismanagement on his own part. I think if I were forced by my father to leave a luxurious mansion in London and a huge country house in Aberdeenshire to go to live in a log cabin in the North American wilderness with cretinoius cowboys for neighbours, even I might have a couple of drinks in the saloon on Saturday night! Worse than any of the other accusations, the author seems to suggest that Coutts was an Englishman! I'm thinking about drafting a letter to the editor. Best regards, Bob Marjoribanks
