    3. Andy, After posting my initial letter to you & the list, I got this email from a subscriber: signed James W. Green III ################ BEGIN ################ From: Merna W McClenathen <mwmccl@juno.com> To: jameswgreen@juno.com Date: Sat, 24 Jun 2000 21:55:59 -0700 Subject: Re: PML Search Result matching Marchbank Dear James, Althought I'm not subscribed to the MARJORIBANKS list, I do receive notice of postings via PML registration. I know very little of my MARCHBANK line. William MARCHBANK b. ca 1790 married Nancy FRASIER/FRAZER and had 6 children b. between 1812 and 1826. My ancestor, Eleanor was b. in Lancaster Co, PA in 1817. The other children were: Jane, John F., William, Nancy and Hannah. The family was in Jefferson Co, OH by 1820 and William is gone from the census in 1840. Eleanor MARCHBANK married James KIRK in 1843 and they later moved to IA where Eleanor died in 1906. Merna McClenathen Goleta, CA ################ END ################ Oops that was the wrong letter but needed to be shared with the list (since I am no expert & if I do not share it, it will come to naught), so I will leave it pasted above. Merna, what is PML registration & how does it work? I wish you would subscribe so you could tell me via the list so I would not have to relay your answer to the list. I am sure a few on the list will be curious, as I am. Now here is the letter that might interest Andy. Hmm. It went to the list so maybe it also went to Andy. I think the server deletes all addresses in the header save its own. I therefore should say I have put Andy's address, & Merna W McClenathen's mwmccl@juno.com in the to-line and the list in the cc-line of the header. Maybe the server will leave it as addressed since its address is only in the cc-line. signed James W. When I saw James W. Green III's message to Andy Davis regarding a posting of a Marchbank from New Brunswick, I couldn't wait another minute. My New Brunswick Marchbank line has been an illusive one and I would love to find out more. My third great-grandfather was Adam Marchbank (b. Scotland) who married Diana Floyd (b. N. Ireland) 13 Jan. 1827 in St. John, St. John, New Brunswick. Their daughter Mary Jane Marchbank married Andrew Wilson. Mary Jane and Andrew had 5 children, one of whom was my great grandmother, Elswitha M. Wilson (b. 6 Feb 1863 probably in St. John). Elswitha married Douglas E. Turner 28 Dec. 1886 in St. John. They emigrated from Canada to Billerica, MA after the turn of the century. I would like to connect with anyone who shares my Marchbank line. I would also love to be put in touch with Andy Davis, whose New Brunswick Marchbank(s) may be related to mine. I hope someone will let me know what to do next. Thanks. Diane Ehernberger Bozeman, Montana diane@gomontana.com ################ END ################ Diane, If you want your line added to the lineages file on the web, I need your full snail address, phone & lineage starting with you & giving dates & places of birth, marriage, & death & same for spouse (of Mbanks descendant) from whom you descend. Robert Marjoribanks, Below, I hereby send your letter to Andy Davis. signed James W. Green III ################ BEGIN ################ --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Robert Marjoribanks <mjbnks@sympatico.ca> To: MARJORIBANKS-L@rootsweb.com Date: Thu, 22 Jun 00 11:46:27 -0400 Subject: Andy Davis Dear James: Please tell Andy Davis that we have records of nine Marchbank families now living in New Brunswick. The first known Marchbank in that province was Gabriel Marchbank who emigrated early in the 19th century from Marjoribanks territory in Dumfrieshire, Scotland, and established a successful ship-building operation at St. Martin, about 30 miles from Saint John. A contemporary of Gabriel in St. Martin was a David Marchbank. Unfortunately nothing is known of their descendants, except for their immediate families. Maybe Andy is one! If he would like to give me his postal address I would be glad to send him more information about the family and a copy of the most recent issue of The Marjoribanks Letter. Best regards, Robert Marjoribanks. ################ END ################ Now here is Andy's letter. It says he is not going in the Marchbanks direction at the moment, but maybe we can change his direction. I have found that snail mail (& now for the last 10 years email) pulls me from ancestral line to ancestral line as I answer them. signed James W. I've been having computer problems. Hopefully they are now under control. I have very little inofmraiton on my Marchbank, other than Adam Marchbank married Margaret CAMPBELL in what I believe to be Sussex, NB, Canada. Margaret is the sister to my GrGrGrandmother. I haven't really sat down and started searching that piece of the tree because I've been concentrating my efforts elsewhere at the moment. I will keep your list in mind when I go that direction.
