Hello and a happy new year of 2001 to all! I've been back on the list for a while just lurking, but reading and enjoying keeping up with everyone. Would you believe that I have now found myself to be a third MARCHBANKS descendant??? It's getting more interesting all the time. My first line is fr. William Elkanah MARCHBANKS, called Caney, who died in the Civil War, a son of Stephen Perry MARCHBANKS of Greenville Co., SC. His grandson, William Elkanah MARCHBANKS GREER was my grandfather. A while back I discovered that my father is a descendant of Ursula MARCHBANKS down through the DEAN>ALLGOOD>MILLER lines. Now, I find that my mother is a descendant again through a MARCHBANKS marriage into, I believe, the WOOD line in Spartanburg; need to look that one up again bef. I post it. Found it bef. Christmas and I've been too busy to get it down in my brain! Here it is: Mary "Polly" DEAN md. Daniel WOOD. She was the dau of Charles DEAN and Margaret HORNBUCKLE. Of course, Charles DEAN takes me back to Ursula MARCHBANKS again, only this time on my mother's side! Now, in helping someone else, I've run into Nancy MARCHBANKS who married Levi YOUNG. Their son, Stephen YOUNG, md. Rebecca PORTER. Rebecca was the dau of Rev. Philip PORTER and a sister to my GGG-G'father Basil Smith PORTER. Can anyone identify Nancy's father? They were in the Old Pendleton Dist. - the portion that became Pickens Co., SC. Nancy lived in the 1700s. Thank you for any help on her! BTW, my mother has suggested that it is time for me to stop looking for ancestors as it may become embarrassing as she and my father discover how many times they are related!!! I told her to forget it, of course! Is there a prize that you would like to give to the person who is descended from the MARCHBANKS family the most times? Just thought I would ask; I seem to keep finding them clinging to my branches! Good thing I bought that family badge when they were made, don't you think? I should wear it daily! God bless, Dolores Miller Pringle
