What I remember about the POWs was their wounds, the plastic surgery that was done on faces and other parts of their bodies. I had to list all wounds and that was a tough part of interviewing the POWs. I also interviewed Navajo Code Talkers, some who were on TV last night, only 4 still alive out of the 29 who served as Code Talkers, using Navajo language in a way that they themselves designed so that the Japanese could not understand it. Messages were sent to a Code Talker in English, he translated and sent it in Morse Code or voice and it was received by another Code Talker who translated the message into English for his unit. This was a big help to the 7 Marine Divisions in the South Pacific battles. Ken Wiltz .
