Have you been counting the toll of American soldiers killed in Iraq and Afganistan? Do you remember the gold stars on the windows of homes during World War II? None of these, or any other American war can match the 600,000 American casualties suffered in the Civil War. That is one reason to attend this Wednesday's MCGS meeting on "Chasing a Civil War Ancestor." The chase will be led by Jeffrey Valliant, a history buff and candidate for our new Board. With Jeffrey's guidance on useful websites, Civil War service records and pension records, you might even come across an ancestor you didn't know you had!
