    3. Jerry, I personally have and am currently growing coast live oaks from acorns taken from a desirable tree next to my house. I must tell you that the time to do this is in the fall when you need to collect the acorns. Then the acorns need to be planted in the winter when the rains are here. If you don't follow this cycle then the acorns dry out and will not germinate for you. Sorry about your ASAP but you have to wait until the next acorn harvest. You might be able to dig up some young trees growing under an oak tree if the deer haven't gotten to them first.
