While reading my daily newspaper I occasionally browse the obituary section, looking--and sometimes finding--familiar names who have passed on. In genealogy this casual approach can be a start to more serious research on the long journey to find our ancestors. Just how to develop a truly effective use of newspaper research is the subject at this Wednesday's meeting, "Extra! Extra! Your Ancestors Are in the Newspaper." The presenter will be Pamela Dallas who is well known in national and local genealogical circles for her expertise on newspaper research, including instructional work on TV and radio. I for one have yet to become fully prepared and involved in finding the genealogical treasures awaiting us in newspapers. This is my/our chance, 7:30 pm at the LDS. See you there, Bill Bryant, MCGS Secretary (retiring)
