Marin Independent Journal Wednesday, June 13, 2001 Section C, page 2 GLADYS G. SHADLE A Resident of San Anselmo Passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, June 8, 2001 after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace. Gladys was born in Dallas, Iowa on March 6, 1914. She married Horace in 1936. They have been residents of Marin since 1945. Mrs. Shadel was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, High Twelvettes of Marin and the Sisters of Hiram. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael and was a volunteer for Whistlestop. She was an avid recreational golfer and a member of the McInnis Park Women's Golf Club. Mrs. Shadle is survived by her son, Sid Shadle and his wife, Nancy, of San Anselmo; her daughter, Barbara Bates and her husband, Phil, of San Rafael. Also survived by four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; cousins, Sid Hickman, Luanne Sankey and Jack Hickman, all of Alameda. Friends are invited to attend Memorial Services on Thursday, June 14, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Hills, 330 Redhill Ave., San Anselmo.
