    1. [MarinGenSoc] "Your Genealogical Special Bulletin"

    3. Dear Listmembers: I received in my email box this morning a message with the subject line "Your Genealogical Special Bulletin". This message was the same tired old bit of spam offering a genealogical search engine. Some of you have gotten the message previously. It says: "When you log in you can enter in your ancestors names and/ or information, just like the other engines. This search engine will then bring up a list of the web sites that actually contain the documents you are searching for. Each item on the list is followed by a description of the information contained within. When you click on the link, it takes you directly to the page within the web site that contains the keywords that you entered in. This saves you an enormous amount of searching time." Others have reported they got the same information from this paid subscription that they would have/could have from all the ususual search engines. When I checked the "header" information it appears to come from someone at AOL and the reply to address is different. Just doesn't ring as legit to me. Now they have added something new to their spam. Hopefully folks won't fall for it. They offer that "25% of all new memberships will be donated to the National Disaster Relief Fund of the American Red Cross." This may or may *not* be true. Sorry, folks, I just don't trust these guys. If you feel the need and are able, be sure to donate directly through the channels you see in the newspapers, on t.v. and hear on the radio. Don't be taken in by the many, many scam artists that come out of the woodwork in times like these. Kindest Regards, Lauren Lauren Boyd
