Jackie Speier which would close both the birth and death indexes in California to the public. Iris is hoping that if you do not think this should happen that you will contact Sen. Speier and let her know. For those of you who are unsure about the birth index you might at least let her know that closing the death index will not protect the privacy of anyone. At the same time, if anyone has heard what office Sen. Speier is planning to run for next, Iris would like to know. Please post this message out to as many lists in the Bay Area as possible. We would like to inundate Sen. Speiers office with requests to quash the bill.
