The US Senate declared April 6 of every year as Tartan Day in celebration of the Scots' contribution to America. For those of you near a Tartan Day event, go! They are not the usual Scottish Games event, but more a day to simply celebrate being a Scot. I received the following in a message: "For those of you who haven't heard, Tartan Day is becoming a huge event, as evidenced by the New York City parade set for today. The event begins at 2 p.m. EST and boasts "10,000 pipers and drummers" from around the world. It will be televised by several stations/networks both in the US and UK.
