Hi all, This is a reminder to attend this Wednesday's MCGS meeting to hear Ken Holmes speak from his perspective as Marin County Coroner. First, Ken's suggestions will be useful for anyone when finding and communicating with next of kin upon a death in the family. Second, genealogists in particular will benefit from Ken's search and website ideas picked up over 35 years of experience. So bring your specific questions, and also any recyclable cans and bottles for MCGS expense support. See you Wednesday at 7:30, Bill Bryant, MCGS Secretary

Hi all, Just a reminder that Saturday is the first one in August. Hope to see many of you at 9 at Star restaurant. If you want to hear about Wales, I can bring some books. They won't be genealogy, but I went because I did have a Welsh ancestor. He was a Quaker and left Wales emigrating in 1685. I did see the valley/town where he lived, but did not try to do research to add to what I know of his ancestry. More, if you are interested, on Saturday. I just got back (and am still on London time) from a 2-week exploration of Wales, from which my Welsh ancestor emigrated in 1684. He lived in Machynlleth on the west side of Wales. It is a perfectly BEAUTIFUL country. Cathy Marin Co., CA ************** What's for dinner tonight? Find quick and easy dinner ideas for any occasion. Hi MCGS Members: This looks like a great meeting! I will miss it. On the 22nd I will be on my way to Scotland for The Gathering 2009 in Edinburgh. Friday I will attend a conference of Scottish Clan Leaders & Chiefs at Scottish Parliament where I will represent my Family/Clan. Saturday I will be presented to HRH Duke and Duchess of Rothesay (Prince Charles and Camilla). There is another conference I am to attend re the Diaspora of Scotland. Sunday I will continue to participate in the Scottish Gathering and on Monday attend yet another conference for Leaders of Scottish Clans. Perhaps next time I shall be conducting research. However, I am bringing resources to share at my Clan's tent to assist others with their research and encouraging all Scots to participate in the DNA projects. Hi MCGS members, All of us genealogical types start from our immediate family and work back through our ancestors. Soon we find ourselves researching outside U.S. boundaries. Many of us will benefit from a personal trip to our ancestral home such as England, or wherever the trail leads. But for that trip to be fully productive requires careful planning of goals, target information sources, itinerary, transportation, and help along the way. Hence our Wednesday meeting presentation by Cat Nielsen, "Planning a Research Trip." If you have read the June & July Society Newsletter you know that Cat is well qualified for genealogical topics, especially this one. She has studied it, taught it, led it, been there and done it! Hope to see you at the LDS Church this Wednesday at 7:30, and don't forget to bring your recyclable bottles and cans to help defray MCGA expenses. Bill Bryant, MCGS Secretary
