    1. [MarinGenSoc] cemetery project
    2. Hi y'all, Cancel this Saturday's outing. Carolyn thinks we are pretty much done. There have been recent deaths, of course, which we do not have, but I fear that will always be the case, no matter what. Carolyn is trying to get her files to fit together -we typed our readings into excel and each cemetery division had its own library. Carolyn is trying to make the libraries go together....... apparently not as easy as she had hoped. Anyway, thank you all for your help a week ago. It is much appreciated!!! 1. Re: [MarinGenSoc] August General Meeting
    2. At our August 25th meeting, Leslie Nye, professional Graphoanalyst, will reveal personalities of ancestors we have evidence of but have never met. To make her time with us even more valuable, the first 12 people to send a clear photocopy of a letter or other writing by your ancestor (more than just a signature) to me may learn some very interesting things while she is showing us all how to evaluate handwriting for characteristics. They can be mailed to me at 2035 Eldorado Court, Novato, CA 94947, or scanned and sent to pohakupuu@juno.com . Be sure you send a clear copy. I will forward all on to Leslie Nye for her prior analysis. This is not handwriting analysis as you may have seen or experienced at Fairs. Graphoanalysis is the study of the individual strokes of handwriting in order to determine the personality and character of the writer. Ms Nye has been a Certified Graphoanalyst since 1989 and in 2006 was recognized with the highest award of the International Grapoanalysis Society (IGAS) - Graphoanalyst of the Year. She is also the Career Advisor for DeVry University in Sacramento. This should be a very different type of meeting. Mark your calendars and send me your examples. Susan Trumbull, Program Chairperson

Cathy Marin Co., CA "There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast" - unknown Hereâ?Ts a great letter an attorney wrote to the FHA on behalf of a client: You have to love this lawyerâ?¦ A New Orleans lawyer sought an FHA loan for a client. He was told the loan would be granted if he could prove satisfactory title to a parcel of property being offered as collateral. The title to the property dated back to 1803, which took the lawyer three months to track down. After sending the information to the FHA, he received the following reply. (Actual reply from FHA): Upon review of your letter adjoining your clientâ?Ts loan application, we note that the request is supported by an Abstract of Title. While we compliment the able manner in which you have prepared and presented the application, we must point out that you have only cleared title to the proposed collateral property back to 1803. Before final approval can be accorded, it will be necessary to clear the title back to its origin. Annoyed, the lawyer responded as follows: (Actual response): Your letter regarding title in Case No.189156 has been received. I note that you wish to have title extended further than the 206 years covered by the present application. I was unaware that any educated person in this country, particularly those working in the property area, would not know that Louisiana was purchased by the United States from France, in 1803 the year of origin identified in our application. For the edification of uninformed FHA bureaucrats, the title to the land prior to U.S. ownership was obtained from France , which had acquired it by Right of Conquest from Spain. The land came into the possession of Spain by Right of Discovery made in the year 1492 by a sea captain named Christopher Columbus, who had been granted the privilege of seeking a new route to India by the Spanish monarch, Queen Isabella. The good Queen Isabella, being a pious woman and almost as careful about titles as the FHA, took the precaution of securing the blessing of the Pope before she sold her jewels to finance Columbusâ?Ts expeditionâ?¦â?¦Now the Pope, as Iâ?Tm sure you may know, is the emissary of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and God, it is commonly accepted, created this world. Therefore, I believe it is safe to presume that God also made that part of the world called Louisiana . God, therefore, would be the owner of origin and His origins date back to before the beginning of time, the world as we know it, and the FHA. The ladders are because we need to read the topmost row(s) in the mausoleum. One person stands on the ladder and tells the person below what to write on the piece of paper. We also will be copying the Jewish section. Hope to see a bunch of you there each day! Wear sunscreen if you will be outside and take a hat! 3. Cathy, I can join the work party on Sat the 31st. What size ladder do you need? I recall a work party in the past where one time we used ladders and then the next time they would not let us bring them in. I think we used binoculars then. Probably best not to ask and just get the job done. Conn On Jul 9, 2010, at 3:20 PM, cylgowdy@aol.com wrote: > At last we are scheduling cemetery work days. 3. Cathy Thank you for getting this together. I wanted to participate; however, I have obligations to family on both those days. Good luck to those who are able to gather. 2. Binoculars are an alternative. Personally I think it would be a good idea to have a pair or 2 available. I will try to remember to take mine. Cathy Marin Co., CA "There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast" - unknown
