Hello again, Jackie, For what it's worth, this book below *might* have detail about your man. Use worldcat.org to locate the nearest library with a copy. The log of the Shanghai pilot service, 1831-1932 Unknown Binding – 1935 by George Philip (Author) Also Edward Byrne is listed in the 1867 Mercantile Navy List as owner of the 165 ton, 60 HP vessel ELFIN of Hong Kong, Official Number 42955. (The Official Number was a permanent and unique identifier of a vessel. It remained the same no matter how many times the vessel changed owner, changed name or changed Port of Registry.) When you plug that O.N. in at the CLIP website I gave you in the previous post, you'll see that she was built in Canada.
