    3. Hi, in early New England, the Master Mariner Tickets were often issued and maintained through the local Masonic Lodge. I have never found a way to access them that way, however. -----Original Message----- From: mariners-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:mariners-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Steve Foote via Sent: Friday, March 13, 2015 11:06 PM To: David Asprey Cc: mariners@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MAR] Master Mariner in Boston David Thanks for the quick reply. His name is Bensley Collenette - and I have found him on Mystic Seaport, but only one entry for 1889, which does give me another data point. However, I have also come across a couple of newspaper articles on him in the Boston Post on newspapers.com, which have what has really caught my interest. What I would most like to find out about was that 1894 he was a candidate for Boston Steamship Inspector, and by 1896, had the renewal of his license refused "on ground of intemperance". He appealed, and there was a hearing before the Steamship Inspector in 1896, but the newspaper article just reports that "the evidence will be sent to Washington, and the result of the hearing will not be known for several weeks." There are no further articles in the newspaper, so I wondered where I could go to find out the final outcome.
