Hi Joe, The answer lies in the fact the your Fides changed her name several times - she was built at Stephen's shipyard for French owners as the Henry Sempe, and launched on Saturday 10 July 1869. Her master was to be Capt. Guerin, and she was then trading out of Bordeaux. She was renamed the Elsa by 1886, and then the Fides by 1894. I cannot find mention of this ship in the Miramar ship index or the list of ships built by this shipyard. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
