My great-grandfather, Daniel Hanlon, born Ireland 1828, applied for the position of Commissioner of the Port of San Francisco. In his application, he provides his "credentials" in seafaring and shipbuilding. Included is the following As chief mate of the large ship Manchester, I went from New York to Peru and back in 1851-52, afterwards up the Baltic Seas, afterwards made two trips to the Mediterranean Sea, returning to New York in 1854 I am trying to find his birthplace. Have searched the seaman's tickets, viat films from the LDS Family History Library, but only Daniels do not match age (b 1792), or list birthplace only as " Ireland ". Other information of relevance is that he was married in London in April, 1854, so dates may be off. How can I get access from the United States to crew list or other information in English archives linked to this voyage that might provide birthplace? Thanks!
