The original Royal Sailors' Home, in Queen Street, Portsmouth, was badly damaged when the major south coast ports were heavily bombed after the Germans captured France, during WWII, and the club wasn't replaced until some years after the war, and would therefore wonder if any pre-war records could have survived ? I don't know where Portsmouth's archives are kept these days, but would suggest that may be the library might be a good place to start ? http://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/learning/1028.html Paul 50° 33' N, 2° 26' W http://www.pbenyon.plus.com/Naval.html
