    3. Hello Caroline, Luke Dodds served with the East India Company from at least 1796, firstly on board the Royal Charlotte as 3rd Officer, sailing for China on the 11 August 1796, back at her moorings 20 March 1798. The captain was William Roper. He then served on board Walmer Castle as 1st Officer for three voyages. To Bombay and China, sailing 2 April 1799, back 17 April 1801, under Capt. George Bonham. To Bombay and China, sailing 12 February 1802, back 27 April 1803, under Capt. Essex Henry Bond. Finally to St. Helena, Bengal and China, sailing 13 February 1804, back 12 September 1805, again under Capt. Bond. Luke Dodds first commanded Walmer Castle on a voyage to Bombay and China, sailing 4 March 1806, back 3 July 1807. His appointment as a captain was announced in the newspapers at the end of January 1806. He sailed again to the same destinations, sailing 9 February 1808, back 14 September 1809. but I think you have details of this and any subsequent trips. I'm sure that all these voyages, and any incidental details that were worthy of report, may well be found in the 18th/19th Century British Library newspapers, available online, if you haven't already looked.
