Hi Betty, Those of us of a certain age will remember the novel, The Cruel Sea, mentioned in your reference, and the 1953 film thereof, starring Jack Hawkins. The film is available from the usual well-known source, and is well worth seeing, even if the 'special effects' will induce laughter or worse from the younger generation.
