    3. Eugene, Good discussion, I haven't been able to jump in until now. You are correct - Hannah4 Howland, dau of John3 Howland (John2-1) & Joanna Shove married at Barnstable, 28 Dec. 1732, John Allen not John Fuller. This appears to be based on the fact that John & Hannah Allen named a son "Shove" and that Hannah4 appears to be married in the 1738 will of her father, John3 Howland (although her surname was not given). This marriage is accepted by the society and is found in the Howland 5 generation book, vol. 2. John & Hannah Allen are credited with 2 children, Shove & John - nothing further is known about John, and Shove m. Mary Proctor with no further record, therefore neither of these lines are carried further. As for the marriages of John3 Howland, these were confused in print for many years - Bowman in Mayflower Marriages thought first wife was possibly Abigail Crocker - this error should be noted in our copies and Joanna Shove should replace Abigail Crocker on pg.228. Proof of the Shove marriage was found in a deed dated 20 May 1714 whereby "John Howland acquired land that was "due Joannah, wife of John Howland, whose maiden name was Shove" <North Purchase Proprietors Recs.1:57 as cited in Howland 2:40>.
