My ancestor John BRANCH settled near Marshfield on a peninsula which became known as Branch’s Island. Brant Rock is the village named for the rock between the islands, the so-called Spectacle Islands. This smaller island to the south of Brant Rock village was early granted to Resolved WHITE, brother of Peregrine White and stepson of Gov. Edward WINSLOW. It passed to Resolved’s son William White who employed John Branch as his tenant farmer, then White deeded it to John Branch in 1684 and 1687. Found this info in MARSHFIELD, Autobiography of a Pilgrim Town. Carolyn Pray for our troops, and Remember, you have a friend in Oklahoma!
