Charles - John is listed in Robert S. Wakefield, "Plymouth Colony Casualties in King Philip's War" (TAG 60 [1984]:236-242). Wakefield's source was a letter by Rev. Noah Newman written 27-Mar-1676, the day after John was killed at the Pawtucket River battle, printed in Richard L. Bowen, "Early Rehoboth," 4 vols. (Rehoboth: 1945-1950). Elizabeth, as you probably know, was not a descendant of John Howland of the Mayflower. She was the daughter of John's brother Arthur Howland - see Robert S. Wakefield and Robert M. Sherman, "Arthur Howland of Plymouth, Mass., 1640, His Wife Margaret (---------) Walker, and Their Children" (NGSQ, 71 [1983]:84-93. Dale H.
