Charles - The one that comes to mind is Samuel Deane, "History of Scituate, Massachusetts, from Its First Settlement to 1831" (Boston: James Loring, 1831; repr. N. Scituate MA: Bates and Vinal, 1899; Scituate MA: Scituate Historical Society, 1975), which contains family registers. Scans are on the USGIS site at: http://www.usigs.org/library/books/ma/Scituate1831Dean/ but you will need the ability to view TIF images in order to read them. Dale H.
