Davis' Ancient Landmarks of Plymouth says John/1 BARNES was father of Esther (BARNES) RICKARD. _______________ Esther Barnes, wife of John Rickard is not a daughter of John Barnes and therefore not the sister of Jonathan2 Barnes. In his 1668 will, John Barnes refers to her as his "kinswoman" - not his daughter. The identity of Esther Barnes has yet to be found. I had John/1 BARNES as her father with a very low surety because of only having Davis as a source. Much research has been done since this book was published in 1883. Be sure to check newer more up-to-date sources as there are no doubt errors in this 1883 book as well as typos. As Jonathan/2 is definitely not Esther's father and with your input have now unlinked John/1 BARNES as her father.
