One of my ongoing projects is the conversion of public-domain vital records volumes into web pages. Now that Brockton has a USGenWeb page I'd like to put online what I've completed (about 25%) of "Vital Records of Brockton, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850." What I've completed covers mainly the Edson, Packard, Perkins and Washburn families. Before these pages go "public" I'd like to have a few folks proofread them. I have split the work into seperate sections for births, marriages and deaths for those who are willing to work on part of the project. Images of the pages (in GIF format for viewing with a browser) are available so proofreaders won't need the book or CD, and both images and HTML are packaged in ZIP files for downloading and offline proofreading. I hope to finish scanning and converting the rest of the volume over the next few months. If you would like to help with the proofreading please let me know. I will, of course, acknowledge all volunteers prominently on the top page of the VRs. Dale H.
