Hello Esther, I was in Plymouth, MA, in May (actually, for the whole month) (lucky me!) It is great fun to travel and do research together. I met the cousin of Tom Mix at both the Plymouth Library and then again at the Mayflower Library. The locals were very helpful and friendly. I stayed at the Motel 6 in Yarmouth, which is so handy to all of the Cape and Plymouth. I will be back again this spring. I very deliberately left another project to work on next year. Keep the rubber side down. Bonnie Ryder Bliss
Hello Esther and Listers, Ebenezer was my husband's 7th great grand uncle. I'm sure that you know this makes your husband a Mayflower descendant. Ebenezer's mother Mary Browne was daughter of Peter Browne of the Mayflower. Mary Bates ESnively@aol.com wrote: > Hello Listers, > "Serendiptiy/ n. Hello Listers, "Serendiptiy/ n. The faculty of making happy and unexpected discoveries by accident." There's nothing like going to the primary location for getting the information you want. My husband and I just returned from a sight seeing/genealogy trip to Massachusetts. I have several ancestors who settled in various places in and around Plymouth and elsewhere in Massachusetts. We stayed five days at Days Inn in Middleborough only about 20 miles west of Plymouth. (Prices are lots more reasonable and we were well satisfied with the accomodations.) After eating the motel breakfast every morning, on our last day we decided to have breakfast out at a local cafe. We sat at the counter. My husband struck up a conversation with a local man sitting next to him. After they discussed baseball and typical guy talk, I mentioned I'd like to see if I could get some information about my 6th great grandfather Deacon Ebenezer Tinkham who lived in Middleboro in the 1600s. "That's my mother's maiden name and I have material on the family for generations - way back to before they came from England" said our new friend. So you see, being in the town where your ancestor lived and died makes a tremendous difference. Our Tinkham friend gave us his card with his email address. I think I have discovered a gold mine of information and can't wait to see what he sends me about our common ancestor. If you can possibly get to Massachusetts and the locality where your ancestors lived, go out to breakfast at the counter of the local cafe instead of in the motel. You might meet some interesting people. Esther Snively in San Jose, California
Barbara Others have gotten to the page with no problem, almost 500 since I added it. Are you having problems with all sites at freepages like it sounds like you are? If so there must be something wrong with your connection to the internet. If a few others who are getting through let Barbara and me know we would appreciate it. I just added the early Rochester, MA marriages to my web site. Hopefully next week will have the town of Plymouth online to finish up Plymouth County. The only location in New England known as "Plymouth Pond" is in Maine. If this makes any sense I'd start with the state archives. They can refer you to the records office that would have your information. What is the best way for me to find the date of death for a person who died after 1920 so that I may order a death certificate or at least find out what cemetery she is buried in? In 1920, Mary Kehoe, age 74, widow, was living at Plymouth Pond, with her son William Kehoe. Pat Marshall Ontario, Canada
Desire Weston and Edmund Wright had a son Samuel who married Sarah Richmond in 1782 (Soule 5th & 6th gen. MFIP part 1 p.4) The MFIP states that Samuel was living in Plymouth in 1788. Does anyone have the Sherman Plymouth VR--not the Plymouth VR as published in_Mayflower Descendant_--who would check for me to see if there are any children listed for Samuel and Sarah Richmond Wright? I'd be interested in knowing about any Weston Wright born about 1790. There was a Weston Wright born 1795, born to Moses and Mary Weston Wright--I'd like to know if there were any other Weston Wrights born about this time.
Hello listers! Would anyone be able to check for a birth of Louisa A. Jordan to Simeon Jordan & Harriet (Washburn) Jordan about 1880. She was listed as 21 when she married in October of 1901. Born in Bridgewater. Pat Marshall Ontario, Canada
Hi Phill, Thank you so very much for that info on the William Kehoe's marriage. The folks on this list are all so very helpful that I knew someone would come up with the answer! Now if only SKS could find Mary Kehoe's death! Pat Marshall Ontario, Canada

Hello listers! I am looking for a date of death for a Mary Kehoe who was living on Plymouth Pond on the 1920 census, age 74. She was living with her son. William E. Kehoe & his wife Louisa. and was a widow, born in Nova Scotia. Also would like to have a date of marriage for William & Louisa (?), probably around 1903, since the first child was born 26 May 1904 in Bridgewater, MA. Appreciate any help anyone can offer on this! Would SKS please perform a RAOK and lookup the address 48 Oak St. Brockton, Mass. Montello Sta. - 1913? I have postcards addressed to my ggrandmother, Eleanor Dorothy (Dickinson) Dupuis at this address, although I know she lived in Chicago in 1913. I also have postcards addressed to an address in Rutland, Vermont and SKS told me it was the home/office of Dr. Charles Caverly. Thank you. Thanks, that would be great!! I am writing a biography of her and, of course, I want to know everything about her that I can find out. I was hoping to get a history of the school and to see if they still have student records of her. A tall order, I know. The only thing I know about her school years is that she broke a window at school and her father had to put a new one in. Don't know when it was, how it happened, even whether it was the same school. She would have been 13 or 14 at the time the picture was taken -- probably eighth grade. Thanks for the offer. Thanks, John. I appreciate it. This Rice school was a brick building (at least the part of it that the picture was taken). I uploaded the photo online at http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~slhessick/images/dot_rice_school.jpg. Caution: it is a little large. I did that on purpose in order to provide greater detail. Sherri, I'd suggest that you just write to the Rockland School Department, Rockland Mass. Ask them if the school is still in their system or if there is a contact for that years Class Reunion. Try these links: http://www.state.ma.us/cc/rockland.html http://RocklandMemorialLibrary.org e-mail roii@ocln.org or the Plymouth County Page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~maplymou/ another place to write might be the Plymouth County Genealogist Inc. http://www.rootsweb.com/~maplymou/pcgs/pcgsmain.htm they might be interested in putting it in their newsletter. This isn't in answer to the RICE School question but is a very good page of links for All of New England. http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/webresources.html#helplinks Hope some of these help.
