Dear List: In a text I was reading concerning the distribution of an English estate during the 16th century, money was expressed in terms of "li" (with no quotes.) Does anyone know what "li" stands for? Thanks, 'Gene Hubbard
# 1. Sorry for the test earlier today. The reason, " I'm having problems and need to send this test." is that since February 2nd, I have not been able to post anything to rootsweb.com - no way no how. I've had to communicate with the Listowners and the Rootsweb administrators through their own e-mail addresses. The problem was solved quickly but was not cleared up until today. The University which is my ISP has an open relay system which has allowed spam mailers to get in and "bounce" off OU email addresses. It looked like someone at OU was sending the trash mail. Conserquently the University was Black Balled or Black Listed. Rootsweb was one of the companies subscribed to the watchdog server that Blacklisted us. Many sutdents and parents lost communication also as they were on servers that used the system. During this time I had no problem receiving mail through Rootsweb and all that subscribed or unsubscribed the notices came through. BTW the MAPLYMOU - Mail list is now my largest list with 203 subscribed to the (L) and 73 to the (D) list. It's also my least problemmatic list, Thank You. Your a great group. The page rules are the same as before - Have Fun and help others. It seems to work with this page. # 2. The Plymouth Public Library just published a new book about Plymouth. Not a great genealogy surname book but a very interesting one about the town and it's growth in the 20th Century. Visit the following: http://www.gis.net/~ppl/bookpage.htm # 3. Admin Note for AT&T Broadband Subscribers: The transition from AT&T Broadband to Comcast High-Speed Internet Service will begin in the next few weeks. There will be a 60 day transition period during which both your old "attbi.com" and your new "comcast.net" will be functional. During that period, please be sure to unsubscribe your "attbi.com" e-mail address from this and other mail lists, and to subscribe with your new "comcast.net" address. For more info, see: http://online.comcast.net/help/connect.asp#a If I can assist in changing your subscription on MAPLYMOU - L & D please let me know your old and new addresses. Fred Frederick M. Hi there, I live in Easton, next door to Brockton and have gone to church in Brockton since I was born 55 years ago. I have never heard of a church by this name. I know that there are Methodist churches and Episcopal but I have never seen one by this name. I will ask my mom and see if she has. Sorry I could not have been more help. Hi, I missed the original message (sorry), but according to the timeline at the site below, found with a Google search, the Swedish Methodist Episcopal Church was established in 1890. http://cgi.tripod.com/adm/popunder/insite.html?member_name=brocktonmagenealogy & path=search&client_ip=152.163.188.68&ts=1045063735&ad_type=EMBED& search_string=%22Swedish+Methodist+Episcopal+Church%22+brockton& id=ce5f78265b9b8727ffd2430b360e2a86& member_url=http://brocktonmagenealogy.tripod.com/search/Timeline.html Hope that helps a little. Can anyone tell me anything about the Swedish Methodish Episcopal Church that was established in 1890 in Brockton and whether it or its records exist today? Any help would be greatly appreciated..... Regards, Kate Sowdon kgsowdon@adelphia.net

Good evening. As you discover turn of the century cousins, uncles, etc. you may find they were employed in the shoe manufacturing business particularly Massachusetts. As a bit of memorabilia to add to your genealogy pages, I have quite a number of Lease contracts for various shoe machinery circa 1920- 1945. They are interesting if for nothing more than the way business was conducted. Most are from United Shoe Machinery to shoe Mfg. Anyone who would like one is welcome to contact me and I will be happy to send you one. Sharing is the fun part of what we do. Snowy
Evening fellow rooters, Have come across a manuscript titled "The Huyck family in Holland and America." If somone could get some family info from it I would be more than happy to send it. snowy Researching New England Snows, Davis, Spalding, Bell, Williams.

my only Edward Bompasse reference. The Richardson Memorial Eighth Generation 927 Edward Wilson Richardson Edward Wilson Richardson 8 (John, 7 Edward, 6 Edward, 5 Theophilus, 4 Ezekiel, 3 Theophilus, 2 Ezekiel 1), eldest son of John 7 and Eunice (Goding) Richardson, of Jay, Maine; born there, July 16, 1811; married Betsey S. Bumpus, Feb. 23, 1846. She is, without doubt, a descendant of Edward Bompasse (originally bon pas, a fortunate step, or bonne passe, a good condition), a French Huguenot, who arrived at Plymouth in the ship Fortune, Nov. 10, 1621, and joined the colony there. This ship brought over Robert Cushman and thirty-five others, with supplies, to the great joy of the suffering pilgrims, who arrived a year previous, and were now in great want. Bompasse easily slid into Bumpus. Edward W. Richardson resides in his native town, Jay, Me. Children: 1307. Ella M., 9 b. July 5, 1848; m. May 28, 1867, (---) Wilson, of Orr's Island, Maine. 1308. I am starting from scratch here so I need help.....PLEASE. > What comes to my mind first is to suggest that you use some of the research guides available at various genealogy websites to familiarize yourself with what is available in this country and especially in New England. You will find that research in MA is very easy compared to most other states. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has very good research guides or lessons which give one a good idea of what to do, in what order, and where to look. You might start at the homepage and look around, or just go here and start. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/RG/frameset_rg.asp Rootsweb also has guides http://rwguide.rootsweb.com/ Various commercial genealogy sites also have guides, lessons, tutorials, or whatever. I don't know if this is the right Frank Willett, but the 1880 census has this Hanson, Plymouth, Massachusetts National Archives Film T9-0550 Page 521D Isaac WILLETT Self 52 MA Shoe Maker Fa: MA Mo: MA Frank W. WILLETT Son 20 MA Shoe Maker Fa: MA Mo: MA Clayton S. WILLETT Son 18 MA Shoe Maker Fa: MA Mo: MA The age isn't quite right, but close, and Hanson is adjacent to Whitman. If he is the right Frank, his father might be the Isaac in the Hanson VR born to John, Jr. and Betsy R. Tubbs ( married June 29, 1823 --Hanson VR p. 84) Sep 28, 1827 ( Hanson VR p. 52). Incidentally, the VR shows John Jr. and Betsy losing three children in the spring of 1841. Securing records from MA agencies is relatively inexpensive, although there can be a wait of several weeks sometimes. MA records are available from different agencies depending on dates--this site will give details and links http://vitalrec.com/ma.html Good luck. Keep us up to date--there are lots of people on this list who will want to help. > >I'm looking for rellies of my husband's. > >Lived all their lives in Whitman MA > >I am looking for Frank Willett d. 1945 aged 88 yrs. > >1st marriage >Adelaide Stevenson d. 1900 > >Children: >1.
