    2. Mike & Julie Mathews
    3. Hello, My name is Julie (Golden) Mathews and I am a Mantlo descendant. I have intended to post my information since this list began, but I'm just now getting around to it! My great-great grandfather was Dr. William W. Mantlo. He was the youngest child of Richard Wallace Mantlo and Martha Burnett Harris Mantlo. William was born Sept. 7, 1826 in Robertson Co., Tennessee. I know little about his childhood. He shows up in the 1850 Maury Co., TN census. He was married ??, I guess, to a 14 yr old. I don't have her name at hand. I think there were just initials and don't know what her surname was. I don't think they had any children. I don't know how or when she died. William was a teacher by occupation at that time. At some point he received training to become a physician. I'm not sure what one had to do in, in those days, to become a physician. William married Sarah Susan Stringer Jan. 3, 1858 in Grundy Co., Missouri. (I don't know when or why he moved to Missouri). They had the following children: 1. William W. Mantlo, Jr. b. ?? d. 1878 from gunshot wound. 2. Thomas Watkins Mantlo b. April 4, 1859 d. Jan. 17, 1933 3. Jefferson Conrad Mantlo b. Feb. 6, 1863 d. June 25, 1956 4. David Stonewall Jackson Mantlo b. Oct. 13, 1868 d. Feb. 16, 1916 Sarah died Sept 20, 1869. William married Sarilda Harless Feb. 27, 1870 in Sullivan Co., Missouri. It is from that marriage that my great grandfather, James Marion Mantlo was born. Sarilda & William's children: 1. James Marion Mantlo b. Dec. 29, 1874 d. Sept 15, 1945 2. Nove L. Mantlo b. 3. Hello Cousin, Remember me? This is Julie Shellberg, you and I talked on email about 5 or so years ago about our family. My great gma Hazel Mantlo is Jefferson's daughter. I have still tried to find where our Mantlo family name came from in Ireland. I am still at a dead end but I am beginning to think our name evolved from Mantle a very common name in Ireland. Well I hope you and your family are doing very well.
