It seems to me that the information in the post below could be of value to someone researching in this area. Leslie K. ----- Original Message ----- From: Sherrie Zabinski To: earlyamerica@mail-list.com Sent: 25 June 2003 The Charleston earthquake, the largest ever on the Eastern Seaboard was on August 31, 1886 and would have register between a 7.5 and an 8. It was massive and as you said, it came not only after the WBTS, but also after 15 hard years of Reconstruction as well. It was a horrible time for the city for almost a 100 years after the WBTS. The name of the fault is the Woodstock Fault, ending in Woodstock, NY. When it struck Charleston it was so powerful that it rang church bells as far North as Philadelphia.

Good Morning All, When I put flowers out for my family and friends at Memorial Day, or any other time, I take extra flowers with me. These I put on the graves that I am pretty sure never get any flowers. I suggest this for each of us now since this is the weekend when the government has us celebrate Memorial Day. (Actual Memorial Day is Friday, the 30th.) Since I will not be at any cemeteries except the local ones this year, I will take extra flowers to with me to decorate... especially the older, long-forgotten ones, whose living family might not even know where to find. Hello Cousin, Remember me? This is Julie Shellberg, you and I talked on email about 5 or so years ago about our family. My great gma Hazel Mantlo is Jefferson's daughter. I have still tried to find where our Mantlo family name came from in Ireland. I am still at a dead end but I am beginning to think our name evolved from Mantle a very common name in Ireland. Well I hope you and your family are doing very well. I don't think they had any children. I don't know how or when she died. William was a teacher by occupation at that time. At some point he received training to become a physician. I'm not sure what one had to do in, in those days, to become a physician. William married Sarah Susan Stringer Jan. 3, 1858 in Grundy Co., Missouri. (I don't know when or why he moved to Missouri). Good Morning, Y'all must be as busy as I, but let's take the time to post (or re-post) our lines and/or queries. We are always getting new members, so one never knows when a new post will generate some new leads. Leslie (Bridges) Kohler
I have been asked by Rootsweb people to warn you that the old genealogy scam is back. www.genseekers.com Behind the password protection are links to the free genealogy on-line. There is no content of their own. In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to surrender a credit card or bank account number. You have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. Guess what? The cancellation e-mail bounces!! Leslie (Bridges) Kohler
Off Topic Post... If you pray, please pray with me for the families of the astronauts whose earthly lives ended today when the spaceshuttle exploded. God bless them all. And, God bless the United States! Leslie Kohler - List Mom
Thanks, I have hit may a dead end trying to find my Mantlo ancesters. Lin
Hello All, The listowner of the TNROOTWALKER list has offered to do look-ups in a book about Robertson County, TN cemeteries. I have asked him for all that he can find. If he sends it to me, I will then relay it here. Leslie - Listowner
Starting today (Monday, 6/10) and extending over several days, RootsWeb is going to be moving the list servers and other machines. No messages sent are expected to be lost, but several lists could be down at a time when each change is made. Please don't post "why aren't I getting mail" during that time. When the list comes back up, you won't want half of the posts to be everyone on the list asking why aren't they getting any mail. <grin> If you have trouble reaching other RootsWeb servers this week, it's probably for the same reason; try again in an hour or two or three..... Thanks! Leslie Bridges Kohler - List Mom

If I have my current information correct, she might well be a sister to my Richard Wallace MANTLO (b 1779), who was the s/o a James J. MANTLO. (And, Richard was the f/o my Amanda Maria Louisa MANTLO.) My MANTLOs ended up in Robertson County, TN also. I see that you are ggggd/o Amanda Mantlo. How is Amanda related to my Rebecca Mantlo? Rebecca d/o James was born 1775 in Hanover Co. VA, married Moses Rowe 28 March 1792 in Louisa Co. VA, and died 10 June 1825 Robertson Co. TN. Somewhere in my many papers I have the guardianship of Rebecca to Moses when her father died but have very little more info. I am interested in sharing family history....... Jo ROE Carpenter
Is there anyone, who has already subscribed, who has a website in place which contains your MANTLO information? Leslie
