What was once a tiny glen is now a sanctuary of peace and beauty. It has offered solace to the bereaved for over 125 years. St. Francis Xavier Cemetery is owned and maintained by St. Francis Xavier Parish under the administration of Pastor Eugene P. Sullivan for all parishes of Weymouth. In the past few years, many improvements have been made by Father Sullivan and the Cemetery Advisory Board--new roads, a new water system, attractive signs, lawn care and plowing, and a computer program to preserve cemetery records. At this time, no lots are available for purchase, however, the Advisory Board is undertaking a project to update all owners addresses or their designees with the hope of contacting those who have moved and may not be going to use remaining lots. Those lots may be donated back to the Cemetery for future use. Tax credit certificates will be issued for such donations. Due to the extreme high cost of upkeep of the cemetery, donations and remembrances in wills are always encouraged. Lot owners must think of the future of the cemetery and whether it remains as it was intended.
