The Norfolk County Probate Court seriously outgrew its space in Dedham where the court houses are very old and antiquated and were in need of a lot of renovation. I'm a social worker and I spent much time at the Dedham Probate Court on child welfare cases waiting and waiting and waiting. "Private" atty/client/social worker conferences were held in the very crowded, loud hallway, a basement area, and were not one bit private. Family Services had the tiniest office space, not good if you had several people that needed to be present in a meeting. There were no conference rooms. One old small office was converted into a court room which was overcrowded with 3 people never mind the numbers that would have to squeeze into it. A/C was non existent. I once tripped and broke my eyeglasses getting off the elevator because the floors were so worn. The new one is modern, spacious, well lit, and lots of free parking. It is not as easy to get to, you kind of have to know the area, but it can be seen from I95. Not sure why it was situated in Canton, but it is not far from Dedham.
