Aug. 28, 1903 WILLIAM PANTON DEAD Conducted Tannery and Currying Shops in Quincy for Many Years Quincy, Aug. 28--William Panton, for many years a well-known resident of this city, and at one time the proprietor of one of the largest tanneries and currying shops in this section of the state, died this morning at the home of his son in East Milton. He was aged 83 years. Mr. Panton was born in Montreal and came to Quincy when a young man. In 1842 he started a currying business in connection with William Dunbar, and later bought Mr. Dunbar's interests. He conducted the business up to 12 years ago, when he went to New Jersey, where he remained until 3 years ago. Then he came to this state and made his home with his son in East Milton. Mr. Panton is survived by three sons and a daugter. ------------ I'm not related. I just thought I'd see what I could find for you.
