That is good for us as the competition helps keep the prices down. My personal opinion is that posting these companies on the message boards and lists amounts to a kind of adverstising and I don't think we should. That said, if someone will take some time to research these companies, getting snail-mail addresses, phone numbers and websites, I will develop a page with ALL of them and put it up on the Massachusetts Vital Records Project website. That way, it won't be endorsing any one of them and will provide a one stop spot to find who sells the kinds of books that we, as genealogists, need. The information can be sent to me at Admin@MA-VitalRecords.org. The MVR Project receives no funding from anyone and is totally self-supporting. It was a common practice for the clerks to allot a page or a half page for each family. From the way the records read, I'd guess that's how they were done in Dedham. I'd call the Dedham Town Clerk and ask for verification. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Thanks so much for sending this info to me ... Will hold onto it in case I come up with a connection. In the 1900 US Census for Weymouth Town I have found: Brown George Head b Feb 1853 b Canada & immigrated 1889 Brown Bridget Wife b Dec 1851 b Ireland & immigrated 1889 Riley Philip H Stepson b Jan 1879 b Canada & Immigrated 1889 Riley Simon W Stepson b Dec 1880 b Canada & Immigrated 1889 It appears that George and Bridget were married in Canada , probably Nova Scotia, before they went to the U.S. but I haven't been able to find a marriage certificate for them as yet. Bridget was a widow when she died 3 July 1921 and had been married twice. She was Bridget (Timmons) (Riley) Brown. Bridget's father was Phillip Timmons, mother unknown. Bridget was residing with her son Philip Riley in the 1910 census in Weymouth Town so sometime between 1900 & 1910 George apparently passed away. Would appreciate your keeping me in mind if you ever come across any connection to this George Brown and Bridget (Timmons) (Riley) Brown.
