    3. No one claimed my father's 'death benefit'. He is not listed on the SSDI. When I contacted Social Security they indicated that there is a time period of two years during which the death benefit may be claimed. There was nothing I could do to get his name on the SSDI which is not based totally on whether or not the death benefit was claimed... Anyway, I was beyond the time limit for collecting the benefit (having called many years after his death).
