Our records include births that occurred at the U.S. Army Hospital at Fort Devens. Births are recorded in the city or town of birth and (in most cases) the community in which the parents' resided at the time of birth. Deaths are recorded in the city of town of death and the community in which the deceased resided at the time of death. Only certified copies are available. Each copy is $10 a piece (i.e. $20 for two copies, $30 for three copies, etc.) The Town of Shirley's raised seal will be on each document. To purchase a copy of a record, please mail a request with the following items to the address below: 1. The type of record (birth, marriage or death), the date of occurrence, and the full name (first, middle and last names) of the subject of the vital record. 2. Examples of restricted birth records would be a child whose parents were not married at the time of birth or a child whose father is not named on the birth certificate. An example of a restricted marriage record would be one in which either parents were not married at the time of either partner's birth. In such instances, only those listed on the record may have access. Therefore, if you are requesting a copy of a restricted record, please include a copy of your driver's license.
