    1. Re: [MAMiddle] WRIGHT Families in early Woburn (Winchester)
    2. Hi, George Lewis LOCKE and Elizabeth ELLIS LOCKE and their children resided on the old Philemon WRIGHT farm. His LOCKE ancestors had farmed in Winchester for several generations. In 1920, enumerated on Ridge Street in Winchester. Enumerated at that time were George, Elizabeth, Ellis, Chester C., Wendell W., and Harry D. (U.S. Census). He was a market gardener. The farm was located in Winchester, on Ridge Street (it once belonged to Philemon WRIGHT). Their marriage record found in the Woburn Vital Records, 1873-1890. Their son George Ellis LOCKE and Clara Agnes WHITEHOUSE lived on the farm as well: In 1930, George E., 47, Clara A., 31, and sons Herbert G., 2 (and some months), and Charles R., 1, were enumerated in Winchester, Mass., on Ridge Street. She was born in Massachusetts. He was a farmer. He was first married at age 46, she at 28. I'm seeking information on the family of George E. and Clara's son Herbert George LOCKE and wife Mary (BEGLY?). Does anyone know if they had any descendants? Herbert died in 1994. Herbert G. LOCKE applied for social security on Dec. 29, 1944. He was then working at Pike Auto Service, Main St., Winchester, Mass. He was residing at 182 Ridge Street, Winchester. He was a Private First Class in World War II. I don't remember whether it was the WRIGHT Farm - or in the early 1900's would have been known as the current owner's farm.

    3. Hi Jerry, Thank you ! Now I know that's where the LOCKE's lived ! By the way, just a reminder that the first wife of Thomas O. HUTCHINSON was Harriett LOCKE. I had my (inexpensive) camera with me for use in the cemetery, so I took a picture of the plaque and the farmhouse (to finish up the film). And, a short walk down the street showed an old house in the back of the farmhouse. It was a ranch with large, old chimneys. I think my sister knows who owned the farm on the other side of Ridge St., which would have bordered on the HUTCHINSON Farm at 21 Ridge St. I'll have to e-mail her and have her remind me.
